Privacy Policy

SmartyPants ("SmartyPants," "we," "us") provides a dashboard that helps local businesses manage and improve their Google Business Profile and understand their local search performance. This Privacy Policy explains what information we access, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the SmartyPants application at smartypants.software.

Information we access

When you choose to connect your Google account, you grant SmartyPants permission to access specific Google data on your behalf. We request only the access needed to provide the features you use:

• Google Business Profile (business.manage) — to read your business listing (such as name, hours, attributes, services, reviews, posts, and photos) and to make updates you request or approve, such as publishing a post or photo, updating business information, or replying to a review.
• Google Analytics (analytics.readonly) — read-only access to your website analytics, used to show traffic and engagement insights.
• Google Calendar (calendar.readonly, calendar.events) — when you connect your calendar for appointment/tour booking, to read your existing events and availability and to create or update the booking events you schedule through SmartyPants.
• Basic account information (userinfo.email, userinfo.profile) — your name and email address, used to identify your account and connection.

We also store the information you enter directly into SmartyPants (such as your organization details and settings) and the email and password used to sign in.

How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

• Provide and operate the SmartyPants dashboard and its features;
• Generate profile audits, recommendations, and performance insights;
• Make changes to your Google Business Profile that you initiate or approve (SmartyPants does not publish changes to your listing without your action or approval);
• Authenticate you and secure your account;
• Provide support and respond to your requests.

Google API Services — Limited Use

SmartyPants's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell Google user data or transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the features you request, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition.

How we store and protect data

• Connections to Google are made over secure HTTPS.
• Google access and refresh tokens are stored securely and are never exposed to other users.
• Each organization's data is isolated, and access is limited to authorized users of that organization.
• We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate SmartyPants — for example, cloud hosting and database services, and AI text-generation services used to draft content (such as suggested review replies or post drafts) that you review before use. These providers process data only to provide their services to us and are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Your choices

You can disconnect SmartyPants from your Google account at any time from within the app or from your Google Account permissions. Revoking access immediately stops further data access. You may also request that we delete your account data by contacting us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
